Current Role

As a member of both Pillar Financial and Cohen Financial, Joe is responsible for Pillar’s Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac debt investment portfolio management, including oversight of both asset management and servicing functions. For Cohen Financial, Joe supports business development and client relationships for its third-party asset management and servicing clients. Prior to his current responsibilities, Joe led Cohen Financial’s asset management operations by primarily focusing on the strategic expansion of performing loan asset management, construction loan administration, and special servicing engagements by leveraging an existing client base consisting of banks, life insurance companies, institutional funds, and CMBS issuers and investors.

Past Experience

Joe has more than 39 years of commercial real estate development, property management, equity and debt asset management, and loan servicing experience.

Joe joined Cohen Financial from Prudential Asset Resources where he served four years as Vice President of Asset Management with overall responsibility for performing loan asset management, including Prudential’s General Account, Interim, Mezzanine, CDO, Construction, CMBS, FHA/Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and third- party client portfolios.

Prior to joining Prudential Asset Resources, Joe was with Midland Loan Services, a division of PNC Bank, N.A., for 15 years, where he held various management positions in the firm’s Asset Management and loan Origination Groups. His responsibilities included CMBS conduit origination underwriting and closing groups, the debt recovery group, and RTC SAMDA contracts. During the last seven years of his tenure, Joe served as Executive Vice President of Asset Management, responsible for performing loan asset management, special servicing, credit administration and real estate advisory services for numerous institutional third-party clients. Additionally, Joe has held positions as Director of Property Management for Crown Management, Inc.; Regional Manager, En-Com Properties, Ltd.; and Project Manager for Design Builders, Inc.
