Joe has overall portfolio management responsibility for the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac debt investment portfolios of Pillar, overseeing asset management and servicing. Prior to his current responsibilities, Joe lead Cohen Financial’s asset management operations, focusing on strategic expansion of performing loan asset management, construction loan administration, and special servicing engagements through the leveraging of Cohen Financial's existing client base of banks, life insurance companies, institutional funds, and CMBS investors/issuers.

Joe joined Cohen Financial from Prudential Asset Resources where he served four years as Vice President of Asset Management with overall responsibility for performing loan asset management, including Prudential’s General Account, Interim, Mezzanine, CDO, Construction, CMBS, FHA/Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and third-party client portfolios.
Prior to joining Prudential Asset Resources, Joe was with Midland Loan Services, a division of PNC Bank, N.A., for 15 years, where he held various management positions in the firm’s Asset Management Group. His responsibilities included CMBS conduit origination underwriting and closing groups, the debt recovery group, and RTC SAMDA contracts. During the last seven years of his tenure, Joe served as Executive Vice President of Asset Management, responsible for performing loan asset management, special servicing, credit administration and real estate advisory services for numerous institutional third-party clients.
Additionally, Joe has held positions as Director of Property Management for Crown Management, Inc.; Regional Manager, En-Com Properties, Ltd.; and Project Manager for Design Builders, Inc.
